On the 24th of June 2021, the library's top management visited the College of Agriculture and Veterinary Sciences library at the Upper Kabete Campus. The Director Madam Angela Mumo accompanied by her two deputies, Madam Rosemary Otando (DDT) and Mr. Harun Mugo (DDA) made a tour of the entire library which was followed by a meet the staff session.
Following the official commissioning of the Mahatma Gandhi Graduate Library on the 14th of June, 2021 at the University of Nairobi’s main campus by the External Affairs Minister of the Republic of India, Dr. S. Jaishankar, and the library department undertook to train a section of its staff on the new innovative systems that had been installed at the refurbished library.
At a colourful ceremony held on the 14th of June, 2021 at the University of Nairobi’s main campus, the External Affairs Minister, Republic of India, Dr. S. Jaishankar officially commissioned the Mahatma Gandhi Graduate Research Library.
The workshop was held on 3rd June 2021 at the Kenya School of Revenue Administration (KESRA), Mombasa. The theme of the event was “Enhance, Entrench and Disseminate Research Output”.
The Kisumu Library was privileged to receive Dr. Peter Onyango Onyoyo a lecturer from the School of Law, Kisumu Campus, who gifted the library 5 copies of his own publications on Administrative Law.
The Library Department wishes to convey its gratitude to Dr. Onyoyo for his support and request all our stakeholders to emulate this noble gesture.
The Faculty of Arts through the Department of Library and Information Science is offering a Masters in Library and Information Science (MLIS) course.
The University of Nairobi partnered with the Equity Group Foundation, Kenya Forest Services, Ministry of Environment & Forestry, Ministry of Education, and the Ministry of Interior & Coordination of National Government to have more than 5,000 trees planted in various parts of the University.
The branch libraries that participated were - the School of Law Library, Kenya Science Library, and College of Veterinary & Agricultural Sciences Library.
The Library has organized online training on Remote Access to Electronic Information Resources (Books, including core-text books & Journals), Research Tools (Turnitin, ORCID, Google Scholar & Zotero Referencing Tool), and Publishing to run for the period between April 28th to May 30th, 2021.
