Dr. Mumia Osaaji presented a donation of 11 titles on science fiction to the Library and Information Services department on 23rd August 2024.

The donation was on behalf of Imperial College, London, under the Centre for Environmental Policy for the Science Fiction Project. The Kenyan lead for the Science Fiction Project is Professor John Irungu Mburu of the Department of Agricultural Economics at the University of Nairobi. He is assisted by Dr. Mumia Osaaji of the Department of Literature, University of Nairobi.

The Library department hosted representatives from Laikipia University who were on a benchmarking visit to assess the operations of the Bindery section and learn from the able members of staff who manage it.

Prof. Jane Akinyi Ngala Oduor from the Department of Linguistics & Languages, University of Nairobi donated a book titled “A Phonological Grammar of Kenyan Sign Language” authored by Hope E. Morgan to the Library & Information Services department

Present to receive the donation on behalf of the Director of Library Services was the Acquisitions Librarian Mr. David Mulonzia.

Prof. Dr. Ronald Kiessling of the University of Hamburg in Germany donated three different titles of his books, to the Library and Information Services department on 7th August 2024.

Frontiers is a leading Open Access Publisher and Open Science Platform. It offers peer-reviewed scientific journals focusing on science, technology, and medicine. It boasts 79 open-access journals covering 662 disciplines across academia.

The University of Nairobi hosted the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees H.E Fillipo Grandi on the 24th of June 2024 at the Chandaria Auditorium for a high-level dialogue and the inauguration of the first of its kind Refugee Resource Centre in Africa at the Jomo Kenyatta Memorial Library. 

The University of Nairobi Library Department will hold a Virtual Library Open Day event on the 14th and 15th of May 2024.

This is an annual occasion where the library showcases what it has to offer to the University community. This year's theme is "Digital Libraries - Equity in Information Access".
