Library Conducts Orientation for Defence College Staff

The Library held orientation session for senior officers from the National Defence College (NDC) on Monday 14th May 2018. The session was led by the College Librarian, CHSS Mr Harun Mugo and Mr John Kanori (Circulation Librarian) alongside Mr Aggrey Luyiya (East Africana), Mrs Mary Njogu (E-resources) and Mr Timothy Nzioki (Digital Content).

World Bird Migration Day (10th May, 2018)

Bird migration is the regular seasonal movement, often north and south along a flyway, between breeding and wintering grounds. Many species of bird migrate. It occurs mainly in the northern hemisphere, where birds are funneled on to specific routes by natural barriers such as the Mediterranean Sea or the Caribbean Sea.

The two primary resources being sought are;

  1. Availability of food
  2. Availability of nesting areas

Time of Remembrance & Reconciliation for Those Who Lost Their Lives during the Second World War (8 - 9 May)

World War II (often abbreviated to WWII or WW2), also known as the Second World War, was a global war that lasted from 1939 to 1945, though the conflicts began earlier. The Second World War (World War 2) lasted from 1939 to 1945. It was fought in Europe, in Russia, North Africa and in Asia. 60 million people died in World War 2. About 40 million were civilians. Children as well as adults were affected by the war.
