Library Management Visits CAVS College Library, Upper Kabete

On the 24th of June 2021, the library's top management visited the College of Agriculture and Veterinary Sciences library at the Upper Kabete Campus. The Director Madam Angela Mumo accompanied by her two deputies, Madam Rosemary Otando (DDT) and Mr. Harun Mugo (DDA) made a tour of the entire library which was followed by a meet the staff session.

The CAVS library serves students from the faculty of Agriculture and Veterinary Sciences whose number is over two thousand.  Among them are eight students with disabilities. The team was impressed by the section of students with disabilities but said there was a lot of room for improvement. CAVS library is the only one with a gazebo in the entire library system. Named after the late Madam Agatha Kabugu who served briefly as a director, the gazebo is cool and offers a place for relaxation by students after they have surfed in the computer room.

The library is fully automated with a total of fifty computers for use by the students. The whole library is wifi compliant with a graduate research library for lecturers and postgraduate students. All users have access to a vast collection of electronic resources which include, e-books, e-journals, online public access catalogs, the digital repository among others. Students with disabilities can access the same in friendly formats eg Non-Visual Desktop enabled computers. The library website is also speech enabled. The CAVS library brigade is well versed with disability mainstreaming etiquette skills which they apply when serving users with disabilities. Reading services are also available on demand.

There are a total of 26,000 printed materials which include theses both at undergraduate and postgraduate level, books, journals, and magazines.

The CAVS library brigade comprises professional staff well equipped with various skills to deal with their areas of specialization. The entire brigade is dedicated to serving our customers with gusto.
