Book Donation (29-Jul-21)

On 29th July 2021, the Library and Information Services Department received a donation of books from Professor Emeritus Walter Ouma Oyugi who retired five years ago from the University of Nairobi. He lectured in the Department of Political Science and Public Administration for many years and also served as the Chairman in the department before his retirement.

The occasion was graced by Prof. Mohamud Jama the Associate Dean Faculty of Social Sciences who received the books on behalf of the university.  The Chairman of Political Science, Diplomacy, and Public Administration Prof. Fred Jonyo was also present. The Library team led by the Director Library and Information Services together with Deputy Director (Technical Services), Deputy Director (Administration), and the Acquisition Librarian witnessed the event in the Library Boardroom.

Prof. Jama in his remarks said that at a glance, the donated materials looked valuable and that this was an indication that the Professors at the university have done a lot. He expressed his gratitude to have had the opportunity to be present to receive the books from Prof. Fred Jonyo and then hand them over to the Director Library services for safe custody.

He promised to donate some of the books in his possession to the library in due course.  “Let us give our younger generation that knowledge that is not available even in the bookstores”. Those were Prof. Jama’s closing remarks as he thanked the entire team that was present.
