The library DMC inspected the newly modified washrooms for PWDs at the JKML library on 16th January 2023. Making facilities accesible to all it’s users is one of the performance contract target for the library department. Last year the library in the same spirit , ensured that the JAWS screen reader for the people with visual disabilities was installed in four branch libraries successfuly. These are: JKML, Parklands library, Mahatma Gandhi Graduate library, and the Kikuyu campus Library.
This year the library has put the needs of persons who have mobility disabilities in to consideration. Top on the list was the washrooms. Since the highest population of those with mobility disabilities is at the main campus, two washorooms on the ground floor were selecletd for modification. This is an ongoing process which will see all the branch libraries fitted with a disability friendly washroom in the near future.
Four branch libraries already have this facility. These are the ADD library, the Mahtma Gandhi Graduate library, the lower kabete campus library, and the Mombasa campus library.
