To elevate our university’s research visibility and streamline the publishing process, the editorial team of the Journal of Pharmacology and Therapeutics recently completed an intensive training session on Open Journal Systems (OJS). The interactive workshop equipped the journal's editorial board and publishing staff with the practical skills needed to manage a fully digital, end-to-end editorial workflow.
The training covered key operational modules critical for modern scholarly publishing:
- User Registration & Submission Systems: Setting up seamless, secure user registration and optimizing the author submission portal to ensure a smooth intake process.
- Role Management & Permissions: Defining clear editorial roles—from Journal Managers and Section Editors to Reviewers and Authors—to support robust oversight and accountability.
- Streamlined Editorial Workflows: Navigating the peer-review pipeline efficiently, managing copyediting and layout revisions, and preparing accepted manuscripts for final publication.
- Back-Issue Digitization: Assessing the progress and ongoing uploading of archived print issues, ensuring the journal’s rich history of research remains fully accessible and searchable online.
By transitioning fully to OJS, the Journal of Pharmacology and Therapeutics is reinforcing its commitment to rigorous peer review, editorial transparency, and timely publishing. This operational upgrade marks a significant step forward in preparing the journal for international indexing and expanding the reach of its scientific contributions to the global medical community.
