FAVS Library Staff Meeting on Sensitization of Departmental Service Delivery Processes

FAVS - Sensitization of Departmental Service Delivery Process
Seated L-R: Jackline Musembi (Library assistant), Anicetta Majau (Library Assistant), Zilpha Walowe (Library assistant), Laurian Omondi (Deputy Faculty Librarian), & Evelyn Anambo (Faculty Librarian)

On 24th January 2022 FAVS Library held a staff meeting to deliberate on how to give better service to users and achieve our goals.

Members of staff were welcomed to the New Year 2022 by the faculty librarian. It was hoped that this will be a very fruitful year for the library.

Sensitization on the library delivery processes was done by the deputy faculty Librarian who emphasized that the customers were the reason that the library existed and that staff should treat them with honor.

He outlined the service delivery process as follows

  1. Acquisition of both electronic and print materials

This service is centralized and it is carried out by the technical and processing unit hand in hand with the computer section at the main library. The faculty libraries solicit book titles from the relevant faculty chairpersons after which they forward them to the Director LIS who authorizes their purchase

  1. Organization /Processing of  the acquired materials

This service has also been centralized. It is done at the main library. The library uses the library of congress scheme to classify its materials

  1. Dissemination of information

This is arguably the most important service in the library because this is where the staff interacts directly with the users. Here, books are issued and returned, queries are answered, user education is undertaken and e-resources training is done. This is the face of the library

In all these processes, there is a need to practice professionalism. He called upon members of staff not to allow their integrity to be compromised at any time.
