The Library is located off State House road, opposite Young Men’s Christian Association (Y.M.C.A.) Hostels. It is surrounded by both the Mens’ and Women’s Halls of Residence. Popularly referred to as the ADD Library, it is conveniently situated within walking distance of the Nairobi Central Business District.
It is housed on the ground floor of the Architecture, Design and Development Building next to the Department of Urban and Regional Planning, but opposite the School of Arts & design. It serves the Faculty of Built Environment & Design (FBD).
The School of Engineering is served by the Jomo Kenyatta Memorial Library. However, due to its strategic location near the student's Halls of Residents, it’s a popular study library for Engineering, Medical, Humanities, Biological, and Physical Sciences students.
It has a total collection of 17,135 volumes composed of books, bound journals, theses, and dissertations. It has the best collection on the Built Environment in East and Central Africa. In addition, it has access to disciplinary and interdisciplinary electronic databases and open access resources on the curriculums offered by the University of Nairobi.
The Library as part of the University of Nairobi Library system is fully automated. It offers innovative information services to its users. It offers services to all the registered university community and alumni members.
The Library conducts information literacy training and user education for all its intended users.
