The Better Evidence for Training Donation Program for Up-to-date team visited the Faculty of Health Science at the University of Nairobi on Monday, December 9th, 2024.
The visit was meant to provide the library with an opportunity to showcase its contribution towards the mission of the implementation of up-to-date programs at the university for future consideration for donations. Currently, the donation is for a period of five years from 2021 to 2026. At the moment, we have David Kimani (Lead Champion) Nelly Odiambo, and Kefa Makori as the Up-to-date Champions.
The event was graced by the visiting Research Assistant M/s Safia Zam Zam on behalf of the Better Evidence team, The Systems Librarian, Milcah Gikunju, Director of Research and Resource Centre, KNH-Dr. Kinuthia and his team, Faculty Librarian-Medical Library Jane Muriithi, Student representative, Champions, and other library staff. The team also made a courtesy call to the Dean, of the Faculty of Health Sciences, Prof. George Osanjo.
The main objective of the event was to highlight the University of Nairobi and by extension the Library’s involvement in making knowledge available through the open access movement in support of Teaching, Learning, Research, and Consultancy services across the health care ecosystems, and expert solutions from Up-to-date. This helps healthcare professionals and industries improve patient outcomes, workflow, and processes. This will also lead to increased Global visibility of the University of Nairobi community’s research which would in turn help Kenyans to make breakthroughs in clinical decisions for improved quality of life among citizens.
