Writing & Publishing High Impact Research Papers

 The academic field in Kenya has been changing drastically in the recent past due to change in technology and education policies. Academics are now required to publish and mentor others more or perish. Publishers are haggling with the open access challenges and Plan-S as well as the predatory publishing. Authors are finding themselves caught in between the mix and the confusion of what is best for them. It is with this in mind that the University of Nairobi Library has organized a two days course on Publishing. The course is dubbed "Writing & Publishing High Impact Research Papers"

The course has been rescheduled for August, 28th- 29th  2019. It is tailored to help the participant develop academic writing skills that will enable one to publish high impact papers.

The main focus will be to address issues related to academic writing such as:

  • Publishing infrastructure,
  • How to identify high impact journals
  • Editorial process,
  • Academic integrity,
  • Plan S,
  • Referencing tools,
  • Research communication
  • Measuring research impact.
  • etc

Lead Facilitator: Professor Tom M. Kwanya

Prof. Kwanya is a distinguished information scientist with several years of practical work experience across Africa & beyond. He is the author of several refereed journal articles, conference papers, monographs and edited book chapters.
