5th Annual eKitabu Digital Essay Competition Award Presentation

The Systems Librarian represented the Director in award presentation for winners of 2017 eKitabu Digital Essay Competition at Sarit Centre on 27th September 2017. eKitabu is a Kenyan and US based company with its headquarter in Nairobi. It collaborates with educational publishers with a focus on books approved for use in education.

The Digital Essay Competition is open from Standard 5 to form 4 in all Kenyan public and private schools. The 2017 Essay Competition was open from 20th April to 1st August and received 5,305 entries from 177 schools in 41 counties. The students were supposed to answer the question:” Ni vipi teknolojia inabadilisha shule yako? Or How is the technology changing your school?” The essays are submitted online at essay.ekitabu.com.

The winners were awarded computing devices and scholarship money. The primary English category went to Golden Tots School in Kakamega. First position in Kiswahili category was Kitale School in Trans-Nzoia. Machakos Girls School came first in English Secondary School category while Kiswahili category was taken by Malindi High School. Special Needs category Kiswahili went to St Oda School FTB in Siaya and the English one went to Thika High School for the Blind.
