Library Staff Participate in IFLA Digitization Workshop

Five library staff members are attending a digitization workshop at Upper Kabete Library. The workshop has been organized by The International Federation of Library Associations (IFLA). The workshop which started on 13th Feb 2017 and ends on 16th Feb. 2017 has attracted Library professionals from 6 countries, specifically - Nigeria, Uganda, Kenya, South Africa, Malawi and DRC Congo. Some of the topics that are to be covered include Standards for digitized materials; Digital preservation; image editing applications such as Irfan View, Gimp, ImageMagic and Exif, as well as Digitization project management.

The principal, CAVS, Prof. Kiama, in his opening message, informed the participants that the training is crucial for all who manage information because digitized information is easier to retrieve and manage. The College of Agriculture & Veterinary Sciences Library was presented with a book scanner to support its digitization efforts.
