The Library Department launched its Digital Repository on 27th June 2014. The colourful event was held in Jomo Kenyatta Memorial Library where staff members who directly or indirectly participated in the grand project celebrated the ultimate reliazation of their hard work.

The event was graced by the Director, Library & Information Services; Dr. Kaane, who reaffirmed the department commitment to disseminate information by various means to our clients. She applauded the good work that went into establishing the repository and the many benefits it provides to its users.

The repository is an online archive for collecting, preserving, and disseminating digital copies of the intellectual output of an institution. The project was initiated in November 2012 and involved collecting various material to be inputed into the repository.

Some of the main objectives for having an institutional repository are to provide open access to institutional research output by self-archiving it, to create global visibility for an institution's scholarly research, and to store and preserve other institutional digital assets, including unpublished literature such as theses.
